How To Buy A Firearm

You must be 18 or older to purchase rifles and shotguns and 21 or older to purchase handguns or NFA firearms. You must comply with federal, state, and local laws at the time of order and transfer of ownership.

Federal law requires the firearm to be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealer. The majority of dealers charge a transfer fee for this service that is NOT included in your purchase transaction with Utah FAST and is to be paid to the FFL dealer at the time of transfer. If applicable the FFL dealer may also have to charge additional fees as required by state, and local laws. Please make sure you discuss any additional terms and conditions they may have.

In order for you to purchase your firearm and have it shipped to your chosen FFL dealer, you must complete the following steps listed below before we can process your order. Failure to complete these steps will cause a delay in the shipping of your order.

All firearm purchases must comply with our Store Policies.

  1. 1. PICK YOUR FIREARM!

If your order also contains non-gun items, those items will ship directly to you.

  2. 2. SELECT A FFL DEALER (YOUR FIREARM WILL BE SHIPPED HERE)

Use our search tool during checkout to select an FFL dealer near you that will accept and perform your transfer. If you are picking us (Utah FAST) to complete the transfer see our Firearm Transfers information.

  3. 3. CONTACT FFL DEALER

If you selected another FFL dealer please contact them to ensure the firearm is compliant with federal, state, and local laws and discuss any additional terms and conditions which may include transfer fees, background check fees, etc.

Within 7 calendar days of placing your order, your chosen FFL dealer must provide us with a copy of their FFL. Failure to complete this process within 7 calendar days of your order will result in your entire order being canceled. Once the FFL license is received, the firearm will be shipped within 3-5 business days. You will receive a shipping confirmation when your order ships.

If you select an FFL dealer in California the dealer must also include their CA firearms dealer (CFD) number on their license. Review CA State restrictions for firearms at http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/.

The chosen FFL dealer can email their FFL along with your name and order number to:
    Email: utahfastllc@gmail.com

  4. 4. SUBMIT YOUR ORDER!

  5. 5. PICK UP YOUR FIREARM AT YOUR SELECTED FFL DEALER

Work with your selected FFL dealer to arrange your firearm transfer. At the time of pick up, you will need to provide all acceptable identification, documentation, and licenses/permits to show that you can legally purchase and possess the firearm.

The FFL dealer will have you complete a Firearm Transaction Record (ATF Form 4473) and a background check using the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) or a state agency if you live in a Point Of Contact (POC) state.

Closely inspect the firearm and verify the make, model, caliber/gauge and condition match with what you ordered before any paperwork is filled out. If there are any issues do NOT complete the transfer paperwork, please Contact Us.
